Formed in early 2004, 5th gear has  been on the local rock scene so long for one reason - they sound really good! "I've Had people come in off the street thinking it was a CD they were hearing and later on telling me how blown away they were by the diversity of the songs we had covered."  Songs range from early 60's and 70's like Beatles-Come Together, Stones-Jumping Jack Flash, Aeromsith-Sweet Emotion&Walk This Way, ZZ Top-Tush&La Grange to the 80's Billy Idol-Rebel Yell, Def Leppard-Pour Some Sugar on Me, Van Halen-You Really Got Me, Violent Femmes-Blister In The Sun, George Michaels-Faith to the 90's STP-Interstate Love Song&Plush, Alice in Chains-No Exscuses&Would, Pearl Jam-Alive. Red Hot Chili Peppers-Californication, Give it Away& Dani California, Sublime-Santeria, What I Got to more current and danceable tunes such as Jet-Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Franz Ferdinand- Take Me Out, Killers-Mr Briteside and Kings of Leon- Sex on Fire.

Preferring live gigs to studios, 5th Gear has been honing their stage and performance skills playing  4 nights a week covering songs you know and love from the 60's 70's 80's 90's and current. But their originals are just as powerful. They have written and released two original CDs available online. They play throughout Southern Florida at hot spots such as Dr. Feelgood's and Roxy's in West Palm Beach, Boston's and the Hurricane in Delray Beach, the Dubliner at Mizner Park in Boca Raton, Whiskey Tango in Hollywood Beach as well as the Clevelander Hotel in South Beach Miami. 

5th Gear’s resume includes airplay of their songs Crumble, Long Day and Not Give In on local top rated radio station 103.1 “the buzz”  In July 2006, the band played the Thirsty Melon Music Festival in Louisville Kentucky. In January of 2007 the band shared the stage with Jimi Van Zandt and Georgia Satellites at the South Florida BBQ Festival playing to over 1000 BBQ and music fans. Also in 2007 the band played to over 500 people at the Clevelander Hotel for their pre Super Bowl Party that the city of Miami was hosting.
